DÜSSELDORF (dpa-AFX) - Wholesaler Metro expects earnings for the current 2023/24 financial year to be around zero. As the Group pays out 45 to 55 percent of its profit as a dividend, the dividend will then also be zero, explained CEO Steffen Greubel at the presentation of the annual balance sheet in Düsseldorf on Thursday.

In the past financial year, the Group generated a surplus of 439 million euros. After two years of losses, it now intends to pay its shareholders a dividend of 55 cents per share. However, the Group owes the positive result in particular to the sale of its Indian business and the disposal of real estate./stw/jha/
