Lhyfe has announced a new 800 MW project in Lubmin, Germany, to supply the future European hydrogen distribution network.

This future plant - to be built on the site of a disused nuclear power plant - will be able to produce up to 330 tonnes of green hydrogen per day, representing an electrolysis capacity of 800 MW.

It will be one of the largest production facilities to be built in Germany's Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region, with a planned commissioning date of 2029.

The new site will benefit from access to the large existing and future power generation capacities of offshore wind farms.

This site is of strategic importance to Lhyfe," says Luc Graré, Head of Central & Eastern Europe at Lhyfe.

We are building these production units not only for our short-term needs, but also for future generations. The development of green hydrogen in Europe is a long-term project, and Lubmin meets all the requirements to become a green hydrogen production center'.
