Kweichow Moutai's net profit for the first half of the year grew 9.1% compared with the same period a year earlier to 24.65 billion yuan ($3.81 billion) as revenue rose 12% to CNY49.09 billion, the company said Saturday.

The Chinese distiller said its results were led by rising consumer demand for its Baijiu liquor product. The company produced 50,300 tons of liquor in the period, including 37,800 tons of its flagship Moutai liquor.

It expects China's Baijiu sector to continue growing and said it would focus more on product quality and production efficiency to drive growth.
