GENEVA, Feb 26 (Reuters) - French carmaker Renault is ready to welcome other players to its 'Horse' combustion engine joint venture project, said Renault CEO Luca de Meo at the Geneva car show.

While he did not name any potential joiners, De Meo said this new partner could potentially be an automotive supplier with an ability to help the alliance develop its engines.

De Meo added that Renault hoped to make more progress on securing regulatory approvals for the 'Horse' project, which also involves the companies Geely and Aramco in the 'coming weeks'. (Reporting by Gilles Guillaume; writing by Sudip Kar-Gupta, editing by Tassilo Hummel)
