Lockheed Martin announces that it has been awarded a $451 million contract by the US Army for additional M270 systems, expanding its domestic launcher fleet and providing upgrades to global partners.

As a reminder, the M270 is a multiple rocket launcher system, primarily in service with the US Army.

This new contract 'will ensure that the M270 series launcher remains highly effective, reliable and interoperable with NATO forces for decades to come', said Jay Price, Vice President of Precision Fires at Lockheed Martin.

Lockheed says the recapitalization will enable a complete redesign and systems upgrades with brand-new engines, improved armored cabs and a new Common Fire Control System (CFCS) that will ensure compatibility with the current and future MLRS family of munitions (MFOM).
