KazTransOil, the state-run oil pipeline operator of Kazakhstan, intends to increase the transit of Russian oil to Uzbekistan to 550,000 tonnes in 2024, from a previously planned 500,000 tonnes.

A statement from the KazTransOil main oil pipeline's press service stated: "In 2024, the volume of transit of Russian oil through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Uzbekistan will increase from the planned 500,000 tonnes to 550,000 tonnes."

KazTransOil is set to transit a total of 25,000 tonnes of Russian oil through Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan this month.

The transit of Russian oil to Uzbekistan through KazTransOil's pipelines commenced in 2017. Transit volumes amounted to 67,900 tonnes in 2017 and 35,800 tonnes in 2018, but came to a halt for several years after that. 

KazTransOil transported 154,300 tonnes of Russian oil to Uzbekistan in 2023.
