(Alliance News) - Eleco PLC on Monday said it has decided to appoint its interim chair on a permanent basis, effective immediately.

Eleco is an AIM-listed London-based specialist provider of software and related services to the built environment through its operating brands Elecosoft and Veeuze.

Eleco said Mark Castle was confirmed in post as non-executive chair following a "full and broad" recruitment process with the support of an independent executive search agency.

Castle became interim non-executive chair after former non-executive chair Serena Lang stood down in May to pursue new opportunities.

Castle is currently also a non-executive director at Buckinghamshire, England-based, FTSE 100-listed housebuilder Taylor Wimpey PLC and at London-based consulting and construction firm Mace Group Ltd. He also chairs Sussex-based, private equity-funded business Triangle Fire Group Ltd.

Castle said of Eleco's prospects: "Having worked with the board over the last two years through its successful [software-as-a-service] transition, the business is well placed to deliver on its expansion plans via both [mergers and acquisitions] and organic growth."

Eleco Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Hunter commented: "Despite having a field of strong candidates in the recruitment process, the in-depth knowledge of the built environment and wider industry which Mark brings with him are simply unparalleled. He has proven himself to be an excellent chair of the board over the last five months and his expertise will be invaluable as Eleco seeks to expand its market presence and strengthen customer relationships."

Eleco said the recruitment process for additional independent non-executive directors will continue, with a further announcement to be made in "due course".

Shares in Eleco were up 1.5% to 83.70 pence each in London on Monday around midday.
