Bollore Africa Logistics announced that it had won the contract to operate the roll-on/roll-off (Ro/Ro) terminal at Senegal's Port Autonome de Dakar (PAD). The deal was struck on November 28 as part of a bidding process that was launched in 2010. It calls for the logistics operations of the Ro/Ro vessels, dedicated mainly to vehicle transport.

The company will operate the terminal for a term of 25 years. For that period, the firm will spend a total of EUR 97 million (USD 132 million) to ‘strengthen the competitive appeal' of Dakar Port. The project will enable the terminal to accommodate high-capacity vessels by extending an existing wharf to 165 meters (541 ft) with a draught of 10.5 meters.

In addition, the terminal will boost its productivity and will be equipped with a new computer system.
