Same stores, which are closed or operating with reduced hours under the state of emergency, remain included. Additionally, online sales are not included in Same-Store Sales.

• Domestic sales for the month were 99.9% of those for the same period of the previous year, consisting of 100.5% of store sales and 97.6% of online sales, while same-store sales were 102.7%. There were the same number of holidays as in the same month of the previous year. Same-store sales for the month were 74.8% of the pre-Covid level in FY2019, falling below 80% for the first time. This is partly due to the fact that September 2019 is a higher level comparison than the months before and after, as there was a rush of demand before the consumption tax increase toward the end of the month.

• The intense heat in the second half of last month affected sales of fall items, and while summer items sold well, the very hot weather lasted until the end of the month, resulting in a slowdown of the full-fledged

rollout of fall items. With the ongoing return of customers to in-store shopping and strong inbound demand, the store sales channel again dominated over the online sales channel. The slowdown in the shift to fall items affected both sales channels, and they recorded a year-on-year decline for the first time in a while.

• As for specific items in the apparel category, sleeve lengths changed from three-quarter sleeves to long sleeves, and there was a shift to fall patterns and colors. However, shirts, blouses, and cut-and-sewn items remained popular, following a summer trend. Among miscellaneous goods, items for warmth have started to sell well. As for brands, many apparel brands, led by OPAQUE.CLIP, continued to increase same-store sales compared to last year, but this month, sales of fashion accessory brands such as COCOSHNIK for jewelry, HIROKO HAYASHI for bags, and ITS'DEMO for fashion goods increased. Strong efforts by miscellaneous goods brands were also highlighted.
