Vodafone Group said it would cut or relocate around 2,000 jobs in Germany as part of a plan to lower costs and optimize its structure.

The U.K. telecommunications company's German business said the restructuring will have a financial impact of around 400 million euros ($433.5 million) in the next two years.

The company said Tuesday that one reason for the cutting or relocation of positions is that more activities would be carried out with increased automation in the future.

Vodafone Germany employs 15,000 people.
