Universal Music Group, the world's largest music company, along with two other companies, is launching a lawsuit against the AI company Anthropic.

Anthropic was founded in 2021 by former employees of OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. The company, whose investors include Amazon and Google, is developing the chatbot Claude, a rival to the popular ChatGPT.

Claude can provide support for musical compositions, which allegedly involved copying and distributing "large amounts of copyrighted material.

Universal Music filed the lawsuit in Nashville along with ABKCO Music and the Concord Music Group.
