Tencent Remains Most Valuable Chinese Brand in 2022

(MT Newswires) -- Tencent Holdings (HKG:0700) held on to its rank as the most valuable Chinese brand in 2022 with a $204.4 billion valuation, according to a report by market research firm Kantar released Thursday.

The Chinese tech and gaming company has continued to concentrate on its main business and explore the potential of new technologies in serving consumers, the firm said.

Alibaba Group (HKG:9988), Kweichow Moutai (SHA:600519), TikTok’s Chinese version Douyin, Meituan (HKG:3690), Industrial and Commercial Bank of China or ICBC (SHA:601398, HKG:1398), JD.com (HKG:9618), Huawei Technologies, Haier Group, the parent company of Haier Smart Home (SHA:600690, HKG:6690), and Ping An Insurance (SHA:601318, HKG:2318) also made it to the top 10 list of most valuable Chinese brands this year.

Meanwhile, athletic apparel brand Li-Ning (HKG:2331), valued at $3.4 billion, is the fastest-growing brand this year.

“It successfully combined technical innovations with nostalgic and patriotic styling cues while its cumulative investment in fashion has now paid off,” Kantar said.

China’s top 100 brands have exceeded a combined valuation of $1.24 trillion this year, surpassing the $1 trillion mark for the second straight year.
