MEMS Sensors Business Group Announces Executive Changes

TDK Corporation announced that effective April 1, 2020 Mr. Behrooz Abdi will step down as CEO of InvenSense Inc. and General Manager of TDK Corporation’s MEMS Sensors Business Group. Mr. Abdi will continue to provide his expertise and insights in the role of Chief Strategy Officer for the Sensor System Business Company (SSBC) of TDK Corporation. In this role, Mr. Abdi will advise SSBC and TDK Corporation on strategic issues, including business models and long-term direction. Amir Panush has been appointed as the new InvenSense CEO and General Manager of TDK’s MEMS Sensors Business Group and will work closely with Mr. Abdi during the transition. Mr. Panush is a senior executive veteran with over 20 years in the semiconductor industry with demonstrated expertise in leading cutting-edge technologies in SoCs, wireless, RF and sensors. He brings to the role a comprehensive understanding of market trends in the consumer, IoT and automotive technology sectors. Mr. Panush joined InvenSense Corporate Development in 2015 from Qualcomm, where he ran the IoT embedded connectivity business. Prior to that, Mr. Panush led the automotive business at Atheros, a leading WLAN SoC company.
TDK Corporation specialises in the design, manufacture and sales of electronic products and recording equipment. Net sales break down by family product as follows:
- rechargeable batteries and energy converters (46.9%);
- electronic equipment and components (33.1%): ceramic capacitors, ferrites, magnets, inductors, high-frequency components, transformers, converters, thermistors, etc.;
- recording equipment (13.5%): recording appliances (notably magnetic heads for hard disks, heads for disk drives and thermal printer heads), recording equipment (audio and video cassettes, optical disks, computer data storage tapes, PC cards, etc.);
- other (3.5%): rechargeable batteries, memory cards, displays and mechatronic equipment.
Net sales break down geographically as follows: Japan (8%), China (56.8%), Asia (18.7%), Europe (10%) and Americas (6.5%).
