Shell plc (LSE:SHEL) completed the acquisition of 39 service stations in Slovenia from MOL Magyar Olaj- és Gázipari Nyilvánosan Muködo Részvénytársaság (BUSE:MOL) on August 28, 2023. The acquisition covers overall 39 service stations ? 19 from MOL Slovenija and 20 from the former OMV Slovenija, now MOL&INA network. The transaction was a condition set by the European Commission for MOL Group?s recent takeover of OMV Slovenija and was subject to various conditions including clearance by the Slovenian Competition Authorities. The handover of the 39 divested stations is planned to start in October. In May, 2023, the EU Commission approved the transaction following an in-depth investigation conditional on the divestiture of 39 fuel stations in Slovenia, which operated as part of the fuel station networks of both MOL and OMV, to the Shell Group.
