Reinsurer Scor has reported net income of 147 million euros for the third quarter of 2023, compared with a loss of 752 million a year earlier, representing an annualized rate of return on equity (RoE) of 13.7% (12.5% adjusted).

It thus claims positive results for a quarter "historically marked by strong claims activity" weighing on property-casualty and liability (P&C) (re)insurance, a division which, according to it, posted a mixed performance.

By contrast, the L&H (life and health) division generated income from insurance activities of 113 million euros, compared with 47 million a year earlier, while investments generated a current return of 3.4%, benefiting from high reinvestment rates.
