The European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the creation of a joint venture by PORR Umwelttechnik (PORR), Saint-Gobain Austria (Rigips) and Saubermacher Bau Recycling und Entsorgung (Saubermacher), all of Austria.

The joint venture will build and operate a new gypsum recycling plant in Austria. Rigips is part of the Saint-Gobain group, which manufactures innovative building materials and products.

The Commission concluded that the proposed transaction would not raise competition concerns, as the joint venture has negligible actual and intended activities in the European Economic Area. The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
