ESSEN/HAMBURG/BILBAO (dpa-AFX) - The energy group RWE and Nordex have signed a multi-year contract for the supply of wind turbines with a total capacity of 800 megawatts (MW). Over the next 2.5 years, RWE will purchase around 120 wind turbines from Nordex for its European markets, RWE announced on Thursday on the fringes of the WindEurope conference in Bilbao. The two companies have been working together for years. RWE already operates 53 wind farms with Nordex wind turbines in seven countries.

RWE intends to increase its installed capacity of onshore wind turbines from the current 8.6 gigawatts to 14 gigawatts by 2030. The supply contract with Nordex "optimally complements existing contracts and secures further capacities for us to achieve our ambitious growth targets," commented Katja Wünsche, responsible for the renewable energies business in Europe and Australia at RWE./nas/jha/
