PT Humpuss Intermoda Transportasi Tbk is planning to make an acquisition. The company is planning to spend up to $100 million in order to acquire a controlling stake in a shipping firm in 2014. Theo Lekatompessy, President Director at Humpuss Intermoda Transportasi said that the company is currently in negotiation to acquire an at least 51% stake in a foreign shipping firm and the possible acquisition plan could cost Humpuss between $50 million to $100 million.

The official did not reveal the firm's name, but he said that the company focuses on shipping liquefied natural gas (LNG) and it has operated its business in Indonesia for a long time. On August 7, 2014, the official stated, “The offering price by the company is still too high. But the acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

He added, “The company's plan to acquire an LNG shipping company because (the prospect) of such business is getting better. LNG production is forecast to keep on increasing.”
