OMV Petrom, the largest integrated energy company in Southeastern Europe, has started a new phase of the 'Romania plants for tomorrow' campaign. This autumn's planting activities started with an event organized in Brazi, Prahova County. The 2 millionth seedling was planted during the event. Representatives of partner NGOs and volunteers took part in the planting activities in Brazi.

Christina Verchere, CEO OMV Petrom: ' brings together communities and volunteers throughout the entire country around a noble goal: to build, together, a cleaner environment. Climate change is more and more present, and we, as a company, have a strong commitment to help mitigate it. It includes investments to reduce the carbon footprint and to generate cleaner energy, as well as to support environmental projects.'

The 'Romania plants for tomorrow' campaign started in March 2020 and was supported by OMV Petrom with 5 million euros. During this time, over 9,000 volunteers contributed to the planting activities that took place in 70 localities, in over half of Romania's counties.

The actions were organized with the support of six NGOs recognized for their contributions to the protection of the environment in Romania - Act for Tomorrow, Mai Mult Verde, Plant?m fapte bune in Romania, P?durea Copiilor, Viitor Plus and Asociatia Parcul Natural V?c?re?ti.

As part of 'Romania plants for tomorrow', three other pilot projects were developed in Romania: the planting of miniature urban forests, the first study that measures the storage of carbon emissions in forests, in collaboration with Forest Design, and an educational component aimed at bringing students closer to nature.
