MONETA Expands Portfolio for Sustainable Investing, Offers Fifth ESG Fund

Prague, 20 September 2021

Truck and bus manufacturer Scania, carmaker Volvo, bank Nordea and global giant Microsoft. These are just some of the titles in which MONETA Money Bank clients can now invest. At the end of August, the bank expanded its investment portfolio with the ESPIRIA Defensiv fund, another in a series of so-called sustainable funds.

Investments in the fund can be made in both Czech currency and euros, and it is ranked number 3 on the seven-point risk scale, which means that it is intended for both conservative and dynamic investors. It focuses on bonds of companies mainly from Northern European countries, such as the aforementioned Volvo and Scania or, for example, Norway's Hydro ASA, one of the world's largest aluminum companies. In addition, it offers global shares in Microsoft, French rail manufacturer Alstom and US pharmaceutical company Bristol Myers Squibb.

In addition, the ESPIRIA Defensiv fund invests on the basis of ESG and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. "In the context of our ESG strategy, we are trying to bring more and more opportunities for sustainable investing to our clients and we are very pleased that there is interest in this type of investment among our clients," said Zuzana Filipová, spokesperson for the MONETA Group.

The recommended investment horizon is at least 3 years, but the optimum is 5 years or more, when the risk for the investor is very low. Investments can be made on a one-off or regular basis, with a minimum investment of CZK 500 or EUR 20.

MONETA offers investment in 32 investment funds, in the whole spectrum of investment typologies: from conservative to very dynamic. Investing can be arranged at any MONETA Money Bank branch or in online banking and in the Smart Banka mobile application, and investments can be made from as little as CZK 300 per month. Currently, 47,000 of the bank's clients have entrusted their finances to one of the investment funds offered by MONETA. The total volume of these investments has exceeded CZK 24.5 billion.
