On Tuesday, French notebook manufacturer Metavisio reported an acceleration in international order intake at the start of the second half of the year, a traditionally buoyant period for the IT sector.

The ex-Thomson Computing company reports that in Ireland, retailer Harvey Norman has placed an order for a batch of notebooks equipped with Intel processors in the run-up to Black Friday.

Also in the run-up to Black Friday, which will be held at the end of November, Carrefour has added three references of Thomson notebook PCs for a promotional operation in Carrefour outlets in Romania with local partner ABN.

In emerging markets, last month Metavisio received the first orders for South Africa with HomeChoice, as well as a first confirmed order for 8,000 Thomson tablets in India.

"This order will enable us to use our manufacturing chain in India and deliver to the first Indian schools, thus replacing the Chinese brands banned from the public market in India since January 1, 2023", explains Stephan Français, the group's CEO.

Metavisio shares were up by over 12% on Tuesday morning on the Paris Bourse following these 'all-out' international orders, giving the company a market capitalization of almost 11.2 million euros.

The share price has nevertheless fallen by 66% since the start of the year, due to sales that were deemed disappointing.
