STUTTGART (dpa-AFX) - Mercedes-Benz has recalled around 529,000 right-hand drive vehicles worldwide. A spokesman for the car manufacturer confirmed the recall published in a database of the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) on Friday. However, according to the KBA, only 22 vehicles are likely to be affected in Germany. The recall includes the A-Class, B-Class, CLA, EQA, EQB, GLA and GLB models built between 2017 and 2024.

According to the company spokesperson, the cause of the recall is the steering software, which does not meet the necessary specifications in the vehicles. In a special and extremely rare case, a loss of steering capability could not be ruled out. As a precautionary measure, the electric steering software of the affected vehicles will therefore be updated. The planned visit to the workshop will take around 30 minutes. Trade media had previously reported on the recall.

Vehicles with steering on the right-hand side are produced for the markets in Great Britain, Ireland and Japan, for example. Left-hand traffic prevails there./jwe/DP/men
