Mercedez-Benz Japan Managing Director Kintaro Ueno talks about his business strategy and the automotive market. He reported that the Japanese automotive industry is slowly recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, with growth of 18-20% for domestic manufacturers and 5-6% for imported cars in 2023. However, the electric vehicle (EV) market is still in its infancy, with only 2% EVs in the total market, of which 45% are imported cars. Finally, he mentions the success of the company's EVs and new GLE SUV, as well as the weak yen.
