Menicon Co., Ltd. announced that it has acquired a site in "Technoport Fukui," Fukui City, Fukui Prefecture, in the Hokuriku Area. This will be a new site for the manufacturing and production of contact lenses and lens care products. A tripartite agreement was established regarding the site acquisition between Fukui City, Fukui Prefecture, and Menicon Co., Ltd. on March 11, 2024. The company plans to manufacture main products--contact lenses and lens care products- at the new site in Fukui. The company also considering the establishment of research and development functions related to production at the new Fukui site for the purpose of bridging between development and production. The area of the new Fukui base is about 93,000 square meters, which will be the domestic production site of company. By including Fukui Prefecture, it aims to establish a strong production economy zone that includes both areas. The Hokuriku Shinkansen will be extended to Fukui on March 16, 2024, and the Chubu-Jukan
Expressway will be also open soon. Thus, access to Menicon's existing sites in the Chukyo area and the new Fukui site will be improved, and human resource supplementation will be further reinforced at both sites.
