Magellan Health, Inc. announced the appointments of Arthur Hennig as senior vice president, chief business officer, payer markets, of Magellan Health; and Sara Pierce as senior vice president, chief business officer, employer market, of Magellan Health. In their roles, Hennig and Pierce will lead the strategic development, management, and growth of key Magellan markets. Hennig will be responsible for the markets serving health plans, as well as states and counties.

He joined Magellan in 2006 and has held several leadership roles across Magellan?s business units. He most recently served as chief operating officer of the emerging markets sector of Magellan Healthcare where he was responsible for strategy execution, including the launch of health plans, as well as the integration of partnerships and acquisition assets into the organization. Prior to Magellan, Hennig worked in several early-stage and start-up companies, including BenefitPoint, where he served as vice president of strategic initiatives, and Women?s Health USA where he was the vice president of operations and business development.

Hennig earned his bachelor?s degree in business administration from the University of Hartford and a master?s degree in economics from Trinity College. Pierce will be responsible for markets serving employers. She joined Magellan in 2011 and has held various roles including senior vice president of account management and chief of staff to the president.

She most recently served as the senior vice president of growth and was accountable for supporting Magellan?s go-to-market growth initiatives. Prior to joining Magellan, Pierce previously served as senior director of strategic accounts for MEDecision, a wholly owned subsidiary of Health Care Service Corporation, vice president of Innovation Lab, and as a continuous quality improvement director at Cigna. Pierce holds a Bachelor of Science degree in human development and family relations from the University of Connecticut and a Master of Healthcare Administration from Cornell University.
