Haryana-based Footwear company Liberty Shoes Limited (LSL) had mooted plan for retail expansion in the southern states.

The move is part of company's strategy of opening 100 new shops every financial year. Till September, the Liberty Shoes-country's second largest shoes manufacturing company-had open 40 new shops across the country. It had been concentrating on the states were company's presence is comparatively low. "We are now looking for major expansion in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala," Anupam Bansal, Director (retail) of the LSL, said.

The company would soon be opening a showroom in Kochi city and later two showrooms in Calicut and Thiruvananthapuram, he added. The LSL had however done an extensive homework before entering into the business of southern states. "A special team was set up that worked on a focused plan for three years, studying the market in southern states," Bansal said, adding that based on the report of the team, company would now focus on retail expansion in the southern states, he added.
