In-company Gym Facility Opened in the Head Office:

The latest AI fitness machines installed for the first time ever in Japan to promote health and productivity management

KAGA ELECTRONICS CO., LTD. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President & COO: Ryoichi Kado; hereinafter "the Company"), has opened an in-company gym featuring the latest AI machines from German fitness machine manufacturer EGYM in its head office building to promote employeesʼ welfare and health.

1. Purpose of opening the gym

The Company has been improving its workplace environments with the aim of creating next-generation office spaces as part of work-style reforms. It also established a social issue working group under its SDGs Committee in 2021 to promote initiatives aimed at creating comfortable working environments and improving employeesʼ work- life balance. The Company was recognized as a Certified Health and Productivity Management Outstanding Organization in March of this year thanks to its various efforts focused on the health of employees, based on the concept that "a happy company depends on healthy employees."

As one specific measure aimed at creating next-generation office spaces and comfortable working environments, the Company recently opened a full-scale gym inside its head office in Akihabara, Tokyo. The gym features totally 16 machines including six of EGYMʼs latest AI machines which use electronic tags to optimize training for each employeeʼs physical attributes. The gym began full-scale operation in August of this year.

The Company has continued to allow

teleworking even after the COVID-19 pandemic, with an office attendance rate of 40- 60%, and has also expanded workplaces in which employees are free to change desks. This has resulted in surplus office space, which the Company is now effectively utilizing as a gym. Since the gym is located in the Companyʼs own building, employees can use it whenever they have free time, even during working hours, and take on their duties feeling refreshed and recharged. The gym is also widely available to employees who do not work at the head office, so they are free to use it when visiting the head office for business or after working hours.

2. Health and productivity management at the Company

3. About EGYM

EGYM is a fitness machine manufacturer founded in Germany in 2010. It currently does business in 32 countries and regions, mainly in Europe and North America.

The machines that the Company has installed in its gym use exclusive AI technology to automatically perform setup as well as automatically create workout programs optimized for users, supporting users in achieving their goals through digital technology. As a result, the gym can be operated without any attendants. The fact that users can take advantage of the machines whenever they have free time is the machinesʼ greatest feature.

This is the first case of installation of EGYMʼs AI fitness machines in Japan, not only in an in-company gym but even including commercial gyms. The Companyʼs consolidated subsidiary KAGA SPORTS CO., LTD. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), provided support for installing the machines, and it will utilize the knowledge and expertise it gained through the installation to propose and sell such machines to other companies taking on health and productivity management.
