On December 11, HJ Shipbuilding & Construction (HJSC) held 'Occupational Safety & Health Session for Vendor CEOs' at Namyeong Bldg. in Seoul with the attendance of CEOs from its solid business partners.

This event specially designed for co-prosperity in occupational safety and health includes good vendors awards, progress of the 100-day safe workplace movement and the vendor supports & 2024 assistance plan. A certificate of merit and a metal were awarded to one best vendor and two good vendors according to the Vendor Safety & Health Assessment. In addition, government experts in safety & health including Ahn Gyun-seop, a manager of the Construction Occupational Hazard Guidance Department of Seoul Regional Office of Employment of Labor, and Goh Gwang-jae, a head of the Seoul Metropolitan Division of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA), were invited, sharing the management's roles and responsibilities.

Recently, the number of foreign workers has gradually increased every year. Considering these circumstances, a free occupational safety & health handbook for foreign workers 'One Point Sheet (OPS)' was developed and distributed. It is the translation (in Chinese, Vietnamese, Uzbek) of the old 140-page portable handbook developed for Korean workers.

The multinational shipbuilder organized this event again, following its first meeting in May this year, strengthening occupational safety and health through close communications between the contractor and subcontractors. An official from HJSC mentioned, "The goal is to build a sustainable ecosystem for co-prosperity with our vendors, not just having a one-time event." The company was awarded 'the Best Prize' two years in a row at the 2023 Mutual Cooperation Evaluation for Constructors announced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in July and 'Grand Prize' at the 2023 Construction Cooperation Promotion Awards hosted by the Construction Contractors Association in November.

CEO Hong Moon-ki said, "We are able to achieve 'Zero Serious Accident' for 4 consecutive years. It is not easy to accomplish this as a large constructor. We have been able to make this happen through win-win partnership with our vendors." He continued, "We keep moving forward towards a global occupational safety & health company, taking occupational safety & health and top quality as our top priority."
