GPI WINS FRIULI VENEZIA GIULIA CONTRACT

European MDR certification for medical devices obtained

GPI S.p.A. (GPI:IM), a leading provider of information systems and services for health and social care listed on the EXM market, announces that the consortium it leads has been awarded the contract to implement Telemedicine processes in Friuli Venezia Giulia.

The four-year contract is worth about € 2.1 million (GPI's share is around €1 million) and calls for the delivery of a telemedicine software platform capable of meeting the citizens' care and treatment needs, involving doctors and other healthcare personnel throughout the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. The Telemedicine Platform (TP) will include teleexamination, teleconsultation, health telecooperation, telemonitoring, telehealth, telerehabilitation and teleassistance.

The contract awarded by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region is part of the restricted tender procedure envisaged by the Consip Framework Agreement on "Digital health - clinical and healthcare information systems" (total funding of € 900 million, of which € 414 million dedicated to Telemedicine - see GPI press releases dated 25/11/2021and 26/04/2022) and will utilise the resources provided in Mission 6 Health of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRPP).

Related services that will be provided during the term of the contract include the installation, configuration, testing and commissioning of the TP; the design and implementation of integrations of the TP with all Health Service systems; and training, support and maintenance.

In fact, through the digitalisation of processes and the personalisation of patient management and treatment processes according to individual healthcare needs and the varying care contexts, the TP helps make the healthcare system sustainable, as envisaged in the NRRP.

Recently, Gpi's Telemedicine Platform, POHEMA, obtained the important MDR 745/2017 certification. This is the Medical Device Regulation, the mandatory European regulation on all medical devices, effective from May 2021. Gpi's is one of the first software in Italy, by sector, to receive this type of certification.
