Former Qualcomm and Motorola executive Sanjay Jha has taken a job as head of GlobalFoundries. Jha was chief operating officer of Qualcomm before leaving in 2008 to become chief executive of Motorola Mobility. He ran the company until it was sold to Google in 2012 for $12.4 billion.

Jha took over from Ajit Manocha, who had served as CEO of GlobalFoundries since mid-2011. Before that, Manocha was an adviser to Advanced Technology Investment Co. He will return to that role now while working with Jha on the transition.
