Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo, Japanese hospitality company Fujita Kanko’s one-of-a-kind five-star flagship property, will begin its annual firefly festival on May 20th, with special events, accommodation and dining plans.

Fireflies, honored in Japanese culture for over a thousand years as a symbol of summer and intriguing beauty, have nonetheless become an extremely rare sight in modern Tokyo. However, from late May to the end of June each summer, Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo's Japanese botanical garden, a massive green oasis in the middle of Tokyo, becomes home to thousands of fireflies. Their magical beauty has been enjoyed by both locals and tourists alike since 1954 when Chinzanso began hosting firefly viewings.
