In the spirit of giving this Christmas, Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd (F&NHB) spread some Christmas cheer to the SHELTER Home for Children, a registered welfare organisation to help abused, abandoned, neglected or at risk-children, by providing much-needed supplies in response to their request for assistance.

As part of this year's initiative, F&NHB provided necessities such as groceries and personal care items to SHELTER, as well as RM2,500 worth of vouchers for them to purchase other essentials. Carol Dayamani, Manager of SHELTER Home who received the items, expressed appreciation to F&NHB for supporting the needs of the home for November and December 2021, and providing the shopping vouchers to tide through the coming months.

On the East Malaysia front, F&NHB supported the Society of Hope Sabah in bringing festive cheer to various parts of the state in conjunction with the Christmas season for the second year running by contributing soy milk beverage and pencil cases to the needy children, especially those from B40 income families.

"With the ongoing economic uncertainties, many are scaling down and reprioritising their spending. This has impacted non-profit and charitable organisations that are dependent on public donations. We are glad to be able to contribute to SHELTER as well as Society of Hope Sabah, as this is part of our long-term commitment to supporting the local community especially during this difficult time. We hope that our contribution will bring smiles to the children and they can enjoy the festivities a little more," said Karen Tan, Director, Communications, Corporate Affairs & Sustainability of F&NHB.

Tan also added that through promoting a more equal society through diversity, equal opportunities and social inclusion, business and society will flourish together. As an organisation that has become part of the fabric of life of everyday Malaysians for the past 138 years, F&NHB is dedicated to giving back to the communities in which F&NHB operates, and strengthening the relationships between different cultures with the local community, through a number of short and long-term programme.

SPREADING GOODWILL TO MALAYSIANS ACROSS DIFFERENT CULTURES

F&NHB is synonymous with festive occasions for generations of Malaysians. In line with the brand promise of "Pure Enjoyment, Pure Goodness", F&NHB strives to encourage communities to connect with each other, especially during festive seasons. Earlier in the year, F&NHB shared festive joy at nine charitable homes across Malaysia during the Chinese New Year season by contributing much-needed daily essential items as well as F&N products to liven up the celebration in these unprecedented times.

During the holy month of Ramadan, F&NHB through its 100PLUS brand contributed over RM1 million worth of F&N products and essential items to 20,000 beneficiaries nationwide, including 100 underprivileged homes with its 'Keberkatan Plus Plus' programme. F&NHB deployed their very own 'Squad Keberkatan 100PLUS' to deliver supplies to frontliners in hospitals, police stations and fire stations in appreciation of their tireless efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure they stay hydrated and energised to carry out their duties during the fasting month.

For the recent Deepavali festivity, F&NHB also provided the Heavenly Child Home in Puchong with new clothes, daily essentials, F&N beverages and milk, and a new freezer. F&NHB also assisted with the payment of electricity and water bills for six months to ease their financial burden.

Standing in solidarity with local communities and frontliners, F&NHB has extended support towards the nation's frontliners and vulnerable communities since the beginning of the pandemic. To date, over two million products have been distributed directly or through community groups to beneficiaries nationwide, including non-profit organisations such as Free Food Society, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Oasis Harapan, Street Feeders of KL, and others.

PROVIDING ENHANCED EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES

F&NHB actively works to strengthen vulnerable groups as the company realises that social equity is critical in any healthy, cohesive community. The company strives to bridge the gaps in society by providing enhanced educational opportunities, especially in digital skills to enable the underprivileged to rise in life.

To this end, F&NHB has equipped three IT corners at the Montfort Boys Town in Shah Alam and the Montfort Youth Centre in Melaka. To strengthen and certify the students' competence in the use of computers and digital tools, F&NHB has sponsored the International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) vocational programme since 2011. To-date, a total of 585 students have graduated from this programme. All in all, F&NHB has invested a total of RM200,000 for the ICDL Programme.

It is our privilege and responsibility to be able to contributes towards a better society and we will continue to look at the welfare of less fortunate children, especially in providing education support to them," added Tan.
