F&NHB is synonymous with festive occasions for generations of Malaysians. In line with the brand promise of "Pure Enjoyment, Pure Goodness", F&NHB strives to encourage communities to connect with each other, especially during festive seasons.

For the recent Chinese New Year celebration, F&NHB shared festive joy at 12 charitable homes across Malaysia by contributing much-needed daily essential items as well as F&N products to liven up the celebrations in these unprecedented times. These selected homes such as Persatuan Keba-jikan Kanak-kanak Cacat Yee Ran Jing Sheh, Persatuan Kebajikan Warga Tua Seri Bahagia Ipoh, Persatuan Kebajikan Orang-Orang Tua Bahagia Selangor and Handicapped & Mentally Disabled Children Center Melaka, to name a few, are dependent on public funds and they rely on sending out pleas for fundings to help them carry on.

In the spirit of caring and sharing, a total of 73 staff volunteers from all over Malaysia shared CNY joy and goodies to those in need of a good cheer, bringing along with them angpows, sundry provi-sions, packed food and, most importantly, smiles. In total, the volunteers visited 247 orphans, disa-bled children, seniors and the less fortunate in Butterworth, Ipoh, Selangor, Melaka, Johor, Kuantan, Mentakab, Kota Bahru, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.

"F&N is glad to have the opportunity to play its role to contribute back to society and spread some good cheer during this Chinese New Year season. Coming together to care for our less fortunate neighbours is a truly important aspect of a healthy and happy community. At F&N, these charity vis-its have been our company's tradition for more than two decades now. It is an activity that our em-ployees look forward to, giving back to the communities that have supported us in good and bad times," said Karen Tan, Director, Communications, Corporate Affairs & Sustainability of F&NHB.

How Qi Di, Manager, Regional Marketing Services who has worked in F&N for 10 years comment-ed, "In my years with F&N, helping to coordinate the company's charity activities has been truly up-lifting. I am proud to work for a company that believes in promoting diversity and fostering national unity in our communities."

"Our annual festive activity has always reminded me how important it is that F&N spreads festive cheer to help communities connect with each other and strengthen relationships between different cultures. Selecting the charity homes can be one of the hardest tasks because it has made me real-ise that there are plenty of homes who are in dire need of funding and assistance. We hope that companies and people will come forward and continue to support those in need," said Valerian Hansen Petrus, Manager, Regional Manager Trade Marketing SBU East Malaysia, who has worked in F&N for 24 years.

Besides providing angpows and sundries, F&N also helped in other ways, according to each home's needs. In the case of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Orang Tua Xiao Xin in Serdang, Selangor, F&N sup-ported the charity old folks' home by paying two months rental amounting to RM3,000 besides providing the home other necessities and goodies. In addition, to support their daily needs of the residents at the Persatuan Kebajikan Orang-Orang Tua Bahagia in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, F&N contributed RM4,000 worth of sundry items and vouchers to purchase other essential items, as well as F&N products and angpows.

"We understand that many charitable bodies are having difficulty getting financial contributions from the public because of the ongoing economic uncertainties. As such, we engaged with each of the homes to find out beforehand how we could best contribute to their needs, whether in the form of financial contribution or contribution in kind," added Tan.

"The pandemic has made it even harder to get public funds but we also understand the Covid-19 outbreak has in general affected everyone across families, businesses and industries. We are truly touched by the contributions received from Malaysians including F&N during these challenging times," expressed Stanley Yap of Persatuan Kebajikan Orang-Orang Tua Bahagia.

Tan added that as an organisation that has become part of the fabric of life of everyday Malaysians for the past 138 years and into our 139th year, F&NHB is dedicated to giving back to the communi-ties in which F&NHB operates, and strengthening the relationships between different cultures with the local community, to help contribute towards creating a better society.
