February 2024 Traffic Results: 2,380,095 passengershandled by the Flughafen Wien Group(+18.3%) and 1,875,075 passengers at Vienna Airport (+16.8%) - Strong passenger growth compared to the previous year

Passenger traffic handled by Flughafen Wien AG continued to show a significant increase: in February 2024, total passenger volume in the Flughafen Wien Group (Vienna Airport, Malta Airport and Kosice Airport) rose 18.3% to 2,380,095 travellers. The number of passengers handled by Vienna Airport was up by 16.8% to 1,875,075 travellers compared to the prior-year month of February 2023. The additional leap day on 29 February 2024 also contributed to passenger growth compared to the previous year.

The number of local passengers at Vienna Airport in February 2024 rose to 1,499,010, comprising a rise of 15.8% compared to the prior-year month, and transfer passenger traffic was up 20.9% to 370,020 travellers. The number of flight movements in February 2024 climbed 12.5% year-on-year to 14,551 take-off and landings. Cargo volume equalled 21,142 tonnes, up 19.7% from February 2023.

Details on passenger traffic
Passenger traffic from Vienna Airport to Western Europe rose to 632,086 travellers in February 2024, comprising an increase of 19.3% compared to the prior-year month. The number of passengers flying to Eastern Europe in February 2024 amounted to 139,608 travellers (+12.5%). Vienna Airport reported a total of 18,863 passengers flying to North America (+12.0%) and 27,596 (+15.3%) to destinations in Africa. Passenger traffic to destinations in the Middle East in February totalled 70,548 travellers (+0.0%), whereas the number of passengers flying to the Far East climbed to 38,908 (+29.2%) in the month of February 2024.

The strategic investments of Flughafen Wien AG also developed very well. Malta Airport reported a rise in passenger volume in February 2024 to 474,404 travellers (+25.1%). Kosice Airport handled 30,616 passengers, up 7.2% from the prior-year month.
