PRESERVATIVE-FREEUNIT-DOSE MOXIFLOXACIN

HYDROCHLORIDE EYE DROPS IN THE PRC

This announcement is made by Essex Bio-Technology Limited (the "Company", together with its subsidiaries, the "Group") pursuant to Rule 13.09 of the Rules Governing the Listing of Securities on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (the "Listing Rules") and the Inside Information Provisions (as defined under the Listing Rules) under Part XIVA of the Securities and Futures Ordinance (Cap. 571 of the Laws of Hong Kong).

The board of directors (the "Board") of the Company is pleased to announce that 珠海億勝生物 製藥有限公司 (Zhuhai Essex Bio-Pharmaceutical Company Limited*), an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company, has obtained an approval from 國家藥品監督管理局 (National Medical Products Administration) for the registration and commercialisation of the preservative-freeunit-dose Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride Eye Drops（鹽酸莫西沙星滴眼液）(the "Approved Product") in the People's Republic of China (the "PRC", which for the purpose of this announcement, excludes the Hong

Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region and Taiwan).

The Approved Product is the first preservative-freeunit-dose Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride Eye Drops ever approved, and is used to treat the bacterial conjunctivitis caused by microbial infection. The Board believes that the Approved Product, the fifth unit-dose eye drops product of the Group, will strengthen the competitiveness and leadership position of the Group in ophthalmology. The other four preservative- free unit-dose eye drops products of the Group are Tobramycin Eye Drops, Levofloxacin Eye Drops, Sodium Hyaluronate Eye Drops and Beifushu (rb-bFGF) Eye Drops.
