Enka de Colombia S.A. announced earnings results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2021. For the second quarter, the company announced sales was COP 128,100.983 million compared to COP 58,323.154 million a year ago. Operating income was COP 16,534.909 million compared to operating loss of COP 3,792.192 million a year ago. Net income was COP 16,505.858 million compared to net loss of COP 1,417.944 million a year ago. For the half year, sales was COP 242,186.179 million compared to COP 161,224.307 million a year ago. Operating income was COP 30,442.714 million compared to COP 3,239.965 million a year ago. Net income was COP 29,460.268 million compared to net loss of COP 4,591.788 million a year ago.
Enka de Colombia SA (Enka) is a Colombia-based company primarily engaged in the petrochemical sector. The Company's activities include the production, distribution and sale of chemical polymers and fibers, as well as industrial raw materials in the form of resins, textiles, filaments, tire cord and synthetic and artificial polyamide and polyester yarns. The Company's products are used to manufacture bottles, yarns, nonwoven fabrics, fiber fills, fishing nets, conveyor belts, tents, fabrics, ribbons, labels, laces and tires, among others. The Company is also involved in the recycling of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) products under the Eko brand. The Company's manufacturing facilities are located in the municipality of Girardota, department of Antioquia. In January 2013, the Company established a new company, namely Eko Red SAS, engaged in the collection, processing and marketing of recycling products and industrial surpluses.
