Lipigas announced earnings and operating results for the first quarter of 2016. The company reported net income of CLP 7.33 billion (USD 10.6 million) in the first quarter, up from CLP 5.51 billion in first quarter of 2015.

For the quarter, natural gas sales nearly tripled to 22.9 Mm3 from 6.1 Mm3 a year ago. The increase was driven by increased dispatch of LNG in Chile to industrial clients via truck, as well as the acquisition of Neogas Peru. LPG sales grew 5% to 6,984t, with Peru leading the growth. Lipigas controls 36%, 14% and 8.9% of the LPG markets in Chile, Colombia and Peru, respectively.
