Azienda Metalli Laminati relies on Danieli for its new, copper-foil rolling mill

Production expansion to compete in a growing, demanding market

Azienda Metalli Laminati S.p.A., market leading supplier in Europe and North America for rolled copper foil, is relying on Danieli Fröhling technology for its plant expansion in Quargnento, Alessandria, Italy.

Through this investment, the Italian producer will add an annual production capacity of approx. 10,000 tons per year. The additional capacity will be used predominantly for the market of brazed plate heat exchangers.

Danieli will provide a new, four-high reversing mill to roll pure- and low-alloyed copper from an entry thickness of maximum 0.2 mm to a minimum finish thickness of 0.025 mm, at a maximum strip width of 550 mm.

The rolling mill will feature a highly dynamic roll-gap adjustment and thickness control, high-accuracy flatness control with workroll bending and multi-zone cooling, and it is designed with specific regard to outstanding strip surface quality.

The new Danieli Fröhling mill will be manufactured, assembled and pre-tested at Danieli HQ workshops.

Advisory services to erection and commissioning activities will complete the supply.

The startup of the new copper-foil rolling mill is planned for autumn 2025.

This is the third order awarded to Danieli for copper mill supply in five months, raising to more than 120 the total supplied worldwide.
