Brookdale Senior Living : Two Brookdale Execs Named “Health Care Innovators”

The Nashville Business Journal (NBJ) has selected two Brookdale executives for recognition in the publication's 2021 Health Care Innovation Awards. Brookdale Senior Vice President of Resident & Family Engagement Sara Terry has been named a winner in the Community Champion category and President & CEO Cindy Baier has been named a winner in the CEO of the Year category. The NBJ says that this program 'highlights the men and women who push the region's signature industry forward and help to protect their communities in uncertain times.'

Sara's recognition is based upon her critical role as a founding member of Brookdale's Emergency Command Center, which leads the company's COVID-19 pandemic response. She serves as its Chief of Staff, managing operational logistics across internal and external stakeholders. Sara also led Brookdale's efforts to hear the voice of the company's customers, to understand their perspectives throughout the pandemic as a way to help prioritize needs.

Among other accomplishments that Cindy is being recognized for, she led the way for the senior living industry to be recognized by the federal government as an important part of the healthcare continuum during the COVID-19 pandemic, paving the way for tens of thousands of residents and associates to be prioritized for life-saving vaccines. Cindy led a rapid business transformation to help combat COVID-19 as well as a number of significant transactions to ensure Brookdale's solid financial footing.
