- Hoard-it supports Wates Residential on housing regeneration scheme
Wokingham Borough Council has appointed Wates Residential to construct affordable new homes in Gorse Ride, Finchampstead. In addition to new homes, Wates is also working on the local infrastructure, including drainage and new roads. The new houses are being built with sustainability in mind, which includes high levels of insulation and low carbon innovations, to tackle the fuel poverty crisis and reduce the borough's carbon footprint.
The regeneration project will not only lead to the development of affordable homes for the Gorse Ride community, it will also allow people with additional needs to live independently. Some of the new homes have accessibility solutions, such as wheelchair access, and ground floor shower facilities. The new development will include 249 new homes, which will meet a growing demand for affordable housing in the local area. The phased regeneration at Gorse Ride will take place over several years, transforming the community, by providing the right type of homes for future generations.
Recently, employees from Hoard-it and Wates Residential volunteered to complete playground regeneration work at Gorse Ride Infants' School. The outdoor section needed attention, to make it safe for pupils to play outside. New planters were installed in the area for school gardening projects, the rotten wooden border was replaced, and the posts were concreted below the soil for support. Travis Perkins donated a skip to help the volunteers dispose of the waste material from the site.

Hoard-it and AH Perimeter Solutions are exemplary examples of this - both volunteered their professional time to support Gorse Ride Infants School by removing a rotted wooden border in their playground and replacing it with brand new boards, making the area safer for the pupils to play outdoors.
