BHP Executive Expects Further Regulatory Easing to Move Forward With Chile Investments

09/28/2022 | 09:25am
(MT Newswires) -- An executive from BHP (BHP.L) expects the group to expand operations in Chile as regulatory concerns in the country continue to ease, according to a Wednesday report.

"The conversations I've had would suggest that there is a sensation that the reality is that Chile has an important role to play in the world and some of the changes that we see going forward probably won’t be as extreme as we’ve seen in the past," President of Minerals Americas Ragnar Udd told Bloomberg News.

The report noted that BHP had said it will spend $10 billion in Chile, where it operates the biggest copper mine in the world, when its reservations are addressed.

The Australian miner’s stock gained over 1% on Wednesday afternoon.
