BAE Systems: HMS Agamemnon soon to join the Royal Navy
She is due to be launched later this year, before entering service with the Royal Navy.
'Astute class submarines are a vital part of our country's defense capabilities, and we are fully focused on completing the remainder of the Agamemnon program so that she can join her sister submarines in service with the Royal Navy', commented Steve Timms, Managing Director Submarines at BAE Systems.
Measuring 97 meters long and weighing 7,400 tons, the submarine will carry both Tomahawk Land Attack Cruise Missiles (TLAMs) and Spearfish heavy torpedoes.
