AkzoNobel announced on Monday that it has added five new production lines at its Bac Ninh site, located near Hanoi (Vietnam), with the aim of strengthening its capacities in Asia.

In addition to these five extra lines dedicated to coatings, a sixth line is to be added, dedicated to water-based coatings for the consumer electronics markets (IT, cell phones and household appliances).

In all, the investment - which follows similar projects in Pakistan, Thailand and Australia - amounts to 18.5 million euros.

AkzoNobel adds that this project will also enable it to adopt more sustainable manufacturing processes with a view to achieving its objective of halving its CO2 emissions by 2030.
