AFFIN BANK APPOINTS DATO' PADUKA SYED MASHAFUDDIN
SYED BADARUDIN AS CEO OF AFFIN ISLAMIC
KUALA LUMPUR - Affin Bank Berhad ("AFFIN BANK" or "the Bank") today announced the appointment of Dato' Paduka Syed Mashafuddin Syed Badarudin as the new Chief Executive Officer of AFFIN Islamic Bank ("AFFIN ISLAMIC"). His appointment will take effect on 8 November 2022.
Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah, President & Group Chief Executive Officer, AFFIN BANK said, "Dato' Paduka Syed brings with him a wealth of experience especially in the areas of corporate banking and Islamic finance and this will put him in great position to drive AFFIN ISLAMIC'S operations and business moving forward. I have no doubt he will bring a fresh perspective to lead AFFIN ISLAMIC as we embark on our A25 strategic plan and continue with our mission to provide Unrivalled Customer Experience and Digital Leadership."
Dato' Paduka Syed, who was previously the CEO of Principal Islamic Asset Management and Group Islamic Business, has more than 25 years' experience in the financial sector. He started his career in the Corporate Finance Department of Commerce International Merchant Bankers Berhad back in 1997 and in 2002 went on to serve its Investment Banking department where he was involved in numerous fund-raising exercises, restructurings, merger and acquisitions.
Dato' Paduka Syed holds a Joint Honours degree in Computer Science and Accounting (B.Sc. Honours) from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom and a Master of Science degree (MSc) in International Banking from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), United Kingdom. He is also a CFA Charter holder.
