London Stocks Seen Opening Lower

0749 GMT - The FTSE 100 is expected to open around 66 points lower, according to IG, having closed Thursday at 7672.40, as equity traders react to the previous day's news that U.S. inflation rose to a four-decade high in January. The news pushed bond yields higher and raised concerns about the possibility of bigger rate rises from the U.S. Federal Reserve, as well as about the possibility of inflation dampening the economy, analysts say. "With the sharp repricing toward tighter Fed policy, U.S. equities marched lower throughout the day," Deutsche Bank analyst Jim Reid says, adding that markets are starting to price in some risk of an emergency rate rise before March. Among individual stocks, British Amercian Tobacco will be in focus after a trading update which included plans for a share buyback. (jessica.fleetham@wsj.com)
