FTSE 100 Falls After Weaker UK House Price Data

0821 GMT - The FTSE 100 falls 0.2% to 7764 points as property stocks fall after data showed U.K. house prices dropped in April after three months of growth. Prices fell 0.3% month-on-month in April following 0.8% growth in March, according to Halifax. "The backdrop of rising rates from the Bank of England and the cost-of-living crisis are squeezing individuals and families and are weighing on the UK property market," Interactive Investor analyst Victoria Scholar writes. The BOE is expected to raise rates by 25 basis points to 4.5% on Thursday while Goldman Sachs has warned rates may need to increase further to 5% by August amid ongoing inflationary pressures, she says.
