SAO PAULO, July 31 (Reuters) - Brazilian gunmaker Taurus Armas said on Monday it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Scopa Defense for them to analyze establishing a potential joint venture in Saudi Arabia.

The venture's goal, Taurus said in a securities filing, would be producing Taurus guns in the country for sale to members of the Gulf Cooperation Council - namely Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and the United Arab Emirates.

The firms will have 12 months to complete their studies on the joint venture, Taurus added. (Reporting by Gabriel Araujo; Editing by Steven Grattan)
