Prior to joining BWC in June 2007, Mr. Coury was First Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecuting Attorney for more than eight years.
While there, he supervised 300 attorneys and staff, and served as legal counsel to the county commissioners and the leadership of other county agencies.
He was also responsible for leading the county-wide criminal justice reform effort on behalf of the prosecutor’s office.
This included integrating many disparate criminal justice information systems.
Before joining Cuyahoga County in 1999, Mr. Coury was chief assistant law director for the city of Parma for five years.
He served as lead counsel in major litigation and managed an office of twenty-two attorneys and staff.
He was also a partner in a litigation firm in northeast Ohio-Weiner, Suit & Coury.
Before that, he was an assistant prosecuting attorney for Cuyahoga County.
After earning his law degree, he was an accountant for Management Fiscal Services, a health-care management firm specializing in medical reimbursement law.
The firm is located in Berea.
Mr. Coury earned his law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1986 and his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Toledo in 1983.
He now lives in Columbus, Ohio.
