United Technologies Assigned Patent for Floating Blade Outer Air Seal Assembly
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 11 -- United Technologies, Farmington, Connecticut, has been assigned a patent (9,810,088) developed by two co-inventors for a "floating blade outer air seal assembly for gas turbine engine." The co-inventors are Thurman C. Dabbs, Dover, New Hampshire, and James N. Knapp, Sanford, Maine. The abstract states: "A blade outer air seal (BOAS) assembly for an engine case of a gas turbine engine includes a multiple of supported air seal segments and a multiple of floating air seal segments circumferentially alternate with the multiple of supported air seal segments."
