Zumtobel is focusing on integral interior design this spring with the new version of theCIELUMAilluminated ceiling. Composed of sound-absorbing, modular light fields, the illuminated ceiling is produced "on demand" in the custom dimensions requested. This results in countless configuration options, bringing to life a new quality in the connection between light, acoustics and space.CRAFT IIsees Zumtobel expanding within industrial applications, introducing a high-bay luminaire based on a platform principle for the first time. Not a fixed stand-alone solution, but a tailor-made system - a powerful adaptation to the requirements of the relevant operation. The new development stage of theLITECOMcontroller isDALI-2 certifiedand supports DALI-2 input devices, therefore ensuring future-proof lighting infrastructures. Much more durable and requiring much less maintenance effort, theG5 variantsof thesafety luminaireswill have a five-year guarantee in future - which also covers the battery.
CIELUMA - the multi-dimensional, modular canopy of light
The new, large-scaleCIELUMAilluminated ceiling imitates outdoor daylight in dimensions never achieved before. In doing so, it influences two of our most important sensory organs - our sight and hearing. Its sound-absorbing properties (0.85 αw according to ISO 11654) reduce disruptive noises to relieve our sensory organs. In line with the Double Dynamic Lighting concept, it introduces dynamic, activating light to a room. As an integral component of the room, it even turns this into an experience. CIELUMA comprises modular light fields: a large LED aluminium frame profile and a large LED aluminium back panel with technical fabric stretched across in one piece. Each textile block module is unique and made in custom dimensions in Austria from fully recyclable materials - up to 75 metres long and up to 4.90 metres wide. Whether the modules are mounted on the ceiling or cover a wall, they diffuse uniform light and can be implemented in virtually any form with millimetre precision. A configurator enables individual tailoring of dimensions, form and design, colour rendering index and temperature as well as luminaire luminous flux and LED efficiency. Two layers of fabric ensure a pleasant light: the layer of fabric visible from the outside functions as a diffuser that scatters the individual LED points, distributing light uniformly and efficiently throughout a space. The interior layer of fabric serves as a dirt trap, catching the finest dust particles as well as insects and making them invisible to the viewer outside. The illuminated ceiling is being implemented in close collaboration with TYPICO, the membrane specialist. Dr Thomas König, CEO of Typico GmbH had the following to say about the impressive end result: "CIELUMA directly engages the senses: I love the fact that a perfectly homogeneous illuminated ceiling transforms a room into something else. The user feels like they are standing outside under the sky. It's magical."
The powerhouse that lasts - CRAFT II
Sustainably produced, powerful in action: theCRAFT II familyoffers two stand-alone basic products: CRAFT II performance and CRAFT II plus. CRAFT II performance is a highly efficient high-bay luminaire in a lightweight yet sturdy sheet steel housing. "Made in Germany" in a zero carbon production process, its six different light distribution curves make it extremely versatile. The CRAFT II plus is distinguished by its impressive resilience and revolutionary thermal management. It uses two fundamental principles of physics to cool and clean itself: the Venturi effect and the Coandă effect. The innovative high-bay luminaire is in a completely different class from its predecessor model and can withstand high ambient temperatures of up to 70°C - over an entire life time of at least 100,000 hours. To deliver such a performance, it relies on an intelligent interplay of air pressure, air speed and air temperature and an aluminium housing with excellent thermal conductivity.
Both high-bay luminaires have state-of-the-art optics and sensors, a wide range of mounting alternatives, the option of an end-to-end solution for integrating IoT services, as well as presence detection and DALI address capability. And last but not least: Zumtobel-quality light output. Thanks to TIR (Total Internal Reflection) technology, transparent, laser-structured lenses reflect the whole ray of light like a mirror. This distributes the light rays optimally in the room - precise and efficient. The perceived glare is also reduced. With the innovative "control glare" optic, an integrated louvre enhances the appearance of the luminaires and creates two additional light distribution options: "narrow beam control glare" and "wide beam control glare". These are effective in reducing glare to a minimum and enable a UGR<19. The product family is available in three sizes from M to XL and in three different luminaire colours - silver, white and black. With a lumen output of between 10,000 and 50,000 lm, and six different light distribution options - from "very wide" and "narrow beam" to "asymmetric" as well as glare-free louvre variants. There is also an unbeatable combination of lumen output and efficiency from size M: CRAFT II performance achieves 21,000 lm in size M; with CRAFT II plus in size M this is as high as 25,000 lm. The entire product family avoids mixed materials to make it easier to feed back into the product cycle. The environmental footprint remains at a minimum.
Future-proof lighting infrastructure
LITECOM- intuitive lighting controls from Zumtobel - offers a wide range of interfaces and control units for a variety of applications, rooms and people. From classic momentary-action switches and touch panels for wall installation to apps and web-based interfaces - clear and self-explanatory for effortless commissioning and intuitive daily use. LITECOM is more than just lighting controls. It is a highly flexible, smart and scalable system. One controller offering many uses. It is therefore possible to use a single controller for compact systems and large installations. Lighting management forms a single unit with the building and the building management system. LITECOM can easily be integrated in building management systems, connected to the Cloud for additional insights and used as the basis for the Internet of Things. The latest development stage of the Zumtobel LITECOM controller also supports DALI-2-certified input devices from third-party providers, making it the key to a future-ready lighting management system.
High quality for reliability and sustainability
Safety luminaires should require as little maintenance as possible. Using robust, durable components in luminaires can hugely reduce the amount of maintenance required by electricians, facility management and end customers. Particular focus was given to batteries in the development process. The newG5 variants of the Zumtobel safety luminaireswill therefore offer a five-year guarantee on the battery in future. Before new battery cells are used in Zumtobel emergency luminaires they must undergo extensive testing, with only the best-performing batteries ultimately being used. Larger battery packs are also being used in the new G5 variants. The extra reserve capacity delivers an especially long life time and, with a few exceptions, the same temperature range as the "non-G5" variants can be released. The luminaires come in the familiar slimline, discreet design. The new variants are available via myProduct for both the RESCLITE PRO as a safety luminaire and for all Zumtobel escape-sign luminaires.
